Mary Alicea has been with the Rocky Mountain Bead Society for about five years now. She has taken many classes and really enjoys the Art of beading. Her work has been in a couple of galleries and was shown at the Freedom of Expression Art Exhibit on Old South Pearl Street. She has been beading and doing creative art since childhood.
28-07 Polymer Clay for beginners THIS CLASS IS FULL
Nikia Angel has beaded as long as she remembers. She is completely enamored with seed beads, especially 15s and Charlottes. Always willing to test a technique to it's limits, she beads incessantly. Zelda Bailey is a geologist and jewelry designer living in Golden, Colorado. Her one-of-a-kind beaded and wire jewelry mingles metal, stone, and glass in simple yet bold combinations. She has taught wire-wrapping techniques for pendants at the Bead Bazaar for four years, and this year is introducing a new wire techniques class.

Susan Bartlett, after retiring as an Art Director for a Tournament of Roses float building company, took up lampworking in 1999 because of her fascination with glass. Lampworking became her true love after taking classes from very gifted artists. She then started to include the lampwork beads in her design work. "My background as an Art Major in college was a natural progression into the fabulous field of beads and glass," says Bartlett. At the suggestion of friend Susan and her daughter, Tamara Drake, she decided to open an online store called Bead Your World.

Betsy Ellis is a founding member of Rocky Mountain Bead Society. She was the chairperson for programs and workshops in 2005. She has enjoyed teaching beginning beading for the past five years.

Karey Grant has been with The Bead Shop since 2004, and has taught a very wide range of classes including various organic wire and knotting techniques. She has never been afraid to tackle new techniques taking design and beading to a new level. Her branch wire work is truly art and her preference in stone beads make a "Karey Grant Design" easily recognizable. She always challenges her students to work outside their beading comfort zones, and loves sharing ideas which truly inspires greater levels of creativity in her students.

Leah Henriquez Ready has never met a bead she didnŐt like! Retired after teaching high school English for 33 years, Leah continued to teach beadwork. Bead embroidery, her favorite pastime, allows her to create her art dolls and jewelry.

Shawn Janecek is a first generation American from Czech parents. She has been beading for about 20 years and is mainly self taught, "truly by taking things apart." She works with seed beads, stones, CZ's, and silver and gold fill. She is a teacher by request and has since learned how to teach. Now she really enjoys the teaching process.

Connie Lehman is a long-time textile artist especially addicted to beaded embroidery. She was a juror for the Dairy Barn 2008 Bead International Exhibition. The thing she likes most about the Make a Beautie workshop is "being right there with the object - held, examined, and owned as we sew wonderful beads, jewels, and silks that sparkle and shine us right up."

Carol Perrenoud is justifiably famous for her representations of the natural world, generally represented in beads so small that most people cannot even see the holes, much less work with them. She is known primarily as a peyote stitch artist. In fact, she was one of the first people to teach peyote-stitch amulet bags, which she calls treasure pouch necklaces, and most of the leading practitioners of this art learned from her or from one of her students.

Melanie Potter left a long-time career in the software industry to combine her creativity and business skills to further the art of beading. Sharon Rawson, "The lady with a bead in her bonnet," is a retired florist living and beading in the mountains west of Colorado Springs. She has been beading for about 20 years and teaching for six. She loves teaching. "It is so much fun to see what others do with my designs." She also likes taking classes and feels you can never learn too much. Ann Severine began beading in 1990 and has studied with many talented teachers and artists. She has taught in Denver, San Diego, Santa Fe, Albuquerque, and Hancock, Michigan. She has studied with the Saraguro tribe in Ecuador and continues to support their efforts in the art community.

Ann Scheer has been designing and making seed-bead jewelry since leaving Corporate America several years ago. She's taught beading classes at the RMBS Bead Bazaars, the Bead Renaissance Shows, and at ANG and EGA meetings and seminars. Her work has been shown and sold in galleries, shops, and juried shows.

Janet Kay Skeen, or "Janet From Another Planet," has been teaching nationally for the past five years. She has had her work shown in Beadwork Magazine, various shows sponsored by Interweave Press, and most recently at Bead International 2006. She teaches only original designs.

Dustin Wedekind has the dreamy job of editing beadwork projects for Beadwork Magazine; dreamy because the line is blurred between "day job" and "night job" while creating his own beaded artwork, as well as sharing simple beading techniques that he hopes will bring the student further than step-by-step beading. Look for his Spring book "Getting Started with Seed Beads."

Nancy Zellers has taught beading classes in the Colorado area for several years as well as at the national bead conventions, the Bead and Button Show, and Bead Expo. She publishes regularly in Bead and Button, Beadwork, and Step-by-Step magazines. Several of her projects are included in the "Beadwork Presents" book series. Her work has been included in shows at Foothills Art Center and in national beadwork competitions. Her website is www.nzbeads.com.
